Project Based Learning

DESCRIPTION:

Project Based Learning (PBL) is an investigative, scientific method approach to learning which requires collaborative planning between students and teachers.


Session A – Learn strategies to keep students focused during lessons and have learned material stay in the long term memory. Brain based research related to learning is reviewed and many practical strategies are shared via the 8 essentials for project based learning. 


Session B – Participants will learn what PBL is and is not, the fundamental guiding principles of PBL, and the specifics of how to plan PBL units. 

OBJECTIVES:

Essential Question – How can PBL transform student learning?

  • Understand foundations and specifics of brain based research supporting PBL principles
  • Practice developing PBL unit driving questions and frameworks
  • Understand how school culture impacts effective PBL implementation
